Congratulations to Captain Tyler Urquhart for being selected as Firefighter of the Month for March 2021! Tyler developed an interest in the fire service while watching his father serve as our Fire Chief. He recalled playing with toy trucks as a young child and marking them with the different truck numbers associated with Howe Springs. As soon as he was old enough, Tyler joined as a junior and hit the ground running. Thirteen years later, he is still going strong. Serving as the Captain over Station 5, Tyler works hard to motivate and drive his members to success. Because he realizes that it is now his, and the other officers responsibility to mold our new members into firefighters. Tyler gives credit to Chief Bennett for doing just that, motivating and molding him into the firefighter he is today. When asked, Tyler stated that his greatest sense of accomplishment comes from being able to give back to his community. We couldn't agree more. Tyler works as a Sheriff's Deputy and lives the Cussac community with his wife and two children. Thank you Captain Urquhart for your commitment and service to the citizens of Howe Springs Fire Rescue.
