Firefighter of the Month: May 2021

Congratulations to Fire Chief Billy Dillon on being selected as Firefighter of the Month for May 2021! Our Board took over the process of choosing the Firefighter of the Month for May to make this special recognition. We all know Chief Dillon is dedicated to Howe Springs and the citizens we serve, but over the past several weeks the Chief worked and fought tirelessly for our members. As a result of many phone calls, meetings, and late nights our members will get what they have and are continuing to work so hard for. Chief Dillon joined the fire service twenty-eight years ago because he wanted to be a part of something that was bigger than himself. Although his original plan didn't include the fire service, one day he passed a fire station while living in Charleston, he decided to stop in and the rest is history. Chief Dillon had the opportunity to hold many different ranks and positions in the fire service and he enjoyed them all, but said his favorite was being a training officer. Stating that being able to teach a new firefighter the basics, seeing them advance in their career, and become leaders of their departments is one of the most rewarding parts of his career. One of Chief Dillon's most recent accomplishments is completing the Executive Fire Officer Program. He lives in the Evergreen community with his wife and two sons.
