Congratulations to Firefighter Brant Maruski on being selected Firefighter of the Month for September 2020. Brant joined us at the beginning of 2020 and is already making a difference. He has worked hard and applied himself, and because of that effort he will be testing for his Firefighter 1 certification this Saturday. For those that don't know, that requires around 200 hours of training on nights and weekends. Brant has not only been taking classes, but regularly attends Thursday night drill and is consistent when it comes to running calls. This level of commitment is deserving of the recognition. We appreciate Brant and the time he has put in to achieving his black helmet (certified firefighter status).
Having always had a desire to join the fire service, Brant finally decided to join after he experience an emergency that required a response from Howe Springs. One day while he and his son were home taking a nap, they woke up to the smoke alarm going off. There was no smoke visible, but Brant called 911 just to be safe. Howe Springs arrived on scene quickly and assisted Brant with the cause of the alarm. The event spurred Brant to join Howe Springs, stating he wanted to be a part of something bigger than himself. He enjoys the brotherhood that the fire service offers and has his eyes set on being a lieutenant and a member of the Technical Rescue Team.
Brant works full time for Florence County Environmental Service. He is married with three kids and is a member of Station 1. Thank you for your service Brant, and congratulations on being selected as Firefighter of the Month! You are an asset to the department and we look forward to having you serve the citizens of Howe Springs for many years to come.
